As we wrap up celebrating Nurses Week today, we have a special shout out to Chaplin Mike with Caris Hospice for praying over and anointed the Nurses hands. Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.” This was a special moment for the Nurses.
We’d also like to thank Cornerstone Caregiving and Amedisys Home Health for providing delicious lunches.
This has been a full week of loving on our wonderful Nurses. Thank you for all that you do!

A big THANK YOU to Gentiva Hospice for providing lunch for our fabulous nurses and staff to kick off Nurses Week!

George Granger was born in 1928 in Flint, Michigan, and grew up with a remarkable work ethic shaped by responsibility far beyond his years. While attending Fenton High School - and playing both football and baseball, he simultaneously cared for 300 chickens, milked cows, and bred and tended to a flock of 125 ewes. These early years built the foundation of discipline and integrity that would define his life.
In January 1951, he proudly joined the United States Air Force. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree, he was selected as one of the first sixteen men chosen for the emerging United States space program, an extraordinary honor reflecting both his intellect and leadership potential. He authored the first manual on rocket propulsion, contributing to the foundational knowledge base of America’s early aerospace advances.
His pursuit of education continued throughout his career, earning an MBA and later a Ph.D. in Economics and Finance. He went on to share his expertise and passion for learning as a professor at East Tennessee State University, where he taught Economics and Finance from 1961 to 1994, shaping generations of students and future leaders.
A man of deep faith, he was a committed Southern Baptist, serving for over 30 years at Central Baptist Church in Michigan as the Director of Homebound Visitation.
Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, he enjoyed the joys of life, especially dancing to live big band music every other week, a pastime that brought him great happiness.
He shared 55 years, 77 days of marriage with Betty Francis Kimble, raising a loving family of five children: George Kimble Granger, Ellen, Don, Linda, and Brian.
George moved to Cornerstone Christian Living in 2017 and has been a resident of Christian Assisted Living of Johnson City since 2023.
Congratulations, Mr. Granger, 2026 Who's Who in Tennessee Center for Assisted Living!

The Broad River Rehabilitation Team would like to recognize Jan Hoelzel as our Success Story for the Christian Assisted Living Facility.
Mrs. Hoelzel has made tremendous improvements through her hard work to meet her goals of becoming more independent and increasing her endurance in order to participate in facility activities.
Mrs. Hoelzel stated, “working with therapy has improved my balance and has allowed me to do more in the building. I am able to walk farther than before and has allowed me to go outside and continue my bird watching. I want the thank the therapy team for all they have done for me.”

Enjoying God's beauty around the facility.
